It's a known fact that not every man knows how to get a date. In fact, the self conscious types are probably those who never learned how to approach women. These are the men who may retreat back to their caves when presented with the opportunity to meet single women. Here are five great tips on how to get a date. 

These tips aren't fail proof, but they have worked for guys who don't know much about how to get a date, and if followed they can help you too.

1. Practice speaking to women - You won't really know the factors that prevent you from approaching women unless you start practicing in an environment that does not put pressure on you to close the deal. If you work in an office, you can chat up your female co-workers while you're in the cafeteria for lunch. Join a table and start mingling. You are under no obligation to flirt, and you're not even expected to show romantic interest, so you can practice "being yourself". 

2. Seize opportunities to mingle - You may not feel like it, but attending every party, barbeque or picnic that you're invited to will soon help you feel more comfortable around the opposite sex. Most dating tips say to get out of your comfort zone. I slightly disagree and recommend that the basic principle in learning how to get a date is to start where you feel comfortable. Try not to be too choosy about which party or gathering you attend, just go to practice being around women. 

3. Create Opportunity - In a word, advertise your single status! The best way to tell the world you're single is by joining dating games (speed dating, match making etc.) and by signing up in dating sites. Better yet, share your thoughts about being single in your own weblog. It is possible that your blog will be read by someone who could be searching for love. You can consider your blog ad your dating profile as your message in a bottle. You're putting yourself out there, and like in romantic novels, your true love will soon find you. 

4. Seize Opportunity - Why wait, says another advice on how to get a date. Get out and find single women who are waiting for someone like you to come along. This means going to places where girls advertise their single status. Aggressive dating is how all the pick up artists in the world will describe this strategy. She's there waiting for someone to talk to. Your role is to be the prince she is waiting for. 

5. Look inside your own circle of Friends. Did you ever consider that your dream girl may be someone you already know? Ask yourself which woman among your friends would treasure you more as a boyfriend than a friend. There could be someone very close to you who may have been dreaming of having a romantic relationship with you. Simply open your eyes to true love and you will find it.
